A couple of weeks ago, New Zealand car insurers became aware that a supplier of car parts was misrepresenting the parts as being suitable for repairs in New Zealand.

We were made aware of the problem at the end of September, and have identified that it only affects 14 Members who have had repairs carried out where parts from this supplier were used. We have contacted those Members directly to organise a time to replace the parts.

We want to reassure our Members that unless we have contacted you to discuss replacing these parts, you are not affected by this problem.

The Insurance Council of New Zealand, which represents all New Zealand insurers, has informed the Commerce Commission of this supplier’s actions.
