Join us for an in-person Member Connect function in May

MAS’s new Chief Executive Officer, Suzanne Wolton, along with local MAS Advisers, MAS Board members and other senior MAS executives, will host a nationwide series of Member functions in May.

Members will get the latest market update from our investment managers JBWere and hear about MAS’s newest investment initiative from MAS Chief Investment Products Officer, Helen McDowall.

All Members will receive an invitation to register for 1 of 5 functions in either Wellington, Christchurch, Hastings, Auckland CBD or Auckland North Shore. For those Members unable to attend, a recording of the presentations will be made available after the final function.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting Members in-person and hearing about their experiences with MAS, along with sharing some of the great work we’re doing to support our Members,” says Suzanne Wolton, Chief Executive Officer. 

About the event 

Our speakers will give brief presentations and there will be an opportunity to ask questions. We will serve drinks and nibbles and you’ll have a chance to catch up with friends and network before and after the function. The whole event will run for around 2 hours, and you are welcome to bring along 1 guest.

Our keynote speaker will be a JBWere investment specialist. They will provide an insightful update on the state of local and global investments and financial market trends to help with your investment goals.

Our Chief Investment Products Officer, Helen McDowall, will provide a brief overview of how MAS Investment Funds can help you tailor an investment strategy that aligns with your goals and lifestyle.

Suzanne Wolton

After 3 years as a MAS Board member, Suzanne has taken on the role of CEO. 

Suzanne has more than 25 years' experience as a board member and senior executive in some of New Zealand's and the UK's leading organisations. This includes working in financial services in the UK investment industry, and then at Westpac and AA Insurance in New Zealand. 

Helen McDowall

Chief of Investment Products Officer, Helen leads MAS’s investments business including the MAS KiwiSaver Scheme and the MAS Retirement Savings Scheme and oversees over $2.2bn of Member funds under management. 

Helen was previously the Chief Operating Officer for the Smartshares business at NZX. She has deep knowledge of KiwiSaver and other investment products and is passionate about delivering products and services that provide great outcomes for our Members. 

Philip Borkin, Senior Investment Strategist

Phil joined JBWere at the start of 2019, coming from ANZ Bank where he was a Senior Macro Strategist. Prior to ANZ, Phil spent 5 years at Goldman Sachs in both Auckland and Sydney as their New Zealand economist. He has a strong interest in economic cycles (past and present) and what they mean for markets, investors and return prospects. 

Andrew Thompson, Investment Analyst

Andrew is a director at JBWere New Zealand, having joined the firm in 2016. As an Investment Analyst in JBWere’s Investment Strategy Group, Andrew’s focus is on global equity strategy and portfolio construction.
