The September 2026 MJW Investment Survey ranks the MAS KiwiSaver Scheme Growth and Balanced Funds among the top three over both one and 10 years, with the Moderate Fund ranked second over 10 years.

Building on its strong long-term performance, three MAS KiwiSaver Scheme funds featured among the survey’s top performers. The Growth and Balanced Funds ranked second and third respectively over the past year to 30 September 2026, delivering returns of 11.6% and 8.1% (all returns are after fees and before tax unless otherwise stated). Both funds also ranked third over the 10-year period, with annualised returns of 9.3% and 7.4% respectively.

The Moderate Fund ranked fifth over one year, returning 4.6%, and second over 10 years, with an annualised return of 5.5%. Both periods ended 30 September 2026.

MAS Chief Investment Product Officer Helen McDowall said the results reflected a continued focus on disciplined investment management, aiming to deliver strong long-term outcomes for Members.

“Strong long-term performance comes from having a clear investment approach, staying disciplined through changing market conditions and keeping our Members’ interests at the centre of what we do.

“We know our Members are investing towards important life goals, often over many years. Our focus is on making thoughtful investment decisions that support those goals, rather than chasing short-term results.”

The MJW survey covers selected funds from New Zealand’s 15 largest KiwiSaver schemes by assets under management, representing approximately 93% of total KiwiSaver assets as at 31 March 2026.

While investment markets will continue to fluctuate, MAS remains focused on active investment management, careful portfolio construction and helping Members build their financial wellbeing over the long term.
