As Principal Partner of Art in the Park, MAS is proud to support an event that celebrates creativity, fosters connection and showcases the important role art plays in our wellbeing and communities. That's why we're excited to introduce the MAS Members' Choice Award, putting the power to recognise artistic excellence directly into the hands of our Members.

Art in the Park has become one of Aotearoa’s premier arts events, creating a platform for artists to share their work and connect with audiences from across Aotearoa. Our partnership reflects a shared commitment to supporting creativity, community and experiences that bring people together.

The MAS Members' Choice Award is an extension of that commitment. Determined entirely by Member votes, the award recognises an artist whose current body of work have made a lasting impression.

MAS Members' Choice Award Shortlist

Cathryn Ryan with Art 800x800

Cathryn Ryan

Capturing the Kiwi Narrative Cathryn Ryan captures a positive, yet quirky, vision of Aotearoa identity through her art. She uses vessels to contain and reflect aspects of our shared life, offering viewers an accessible, clean, and green perspective. These symbolic containers include the egg, signifying potential and fragility, and the enamel mug, often evoking happy, common memories. Ryan selects these and other objects for their relatability, shared experience, or memorial significance, inviting viewers to engage with the familiar stories woven into her vibrant pieces.

Dita Angeles 800x800 v2

Dita Angeles

Dita Angeles comes from a strong background in portraiture which evolved over the years into an existential examination of social presentation. She specialises in conceptual photorealist oil paintings and especially likes to use themes centred around behaviour, ego, identity, and anonymity. Angeles has been a professional artist since 2002, and has spent much of her career living in various places around Asia Pacific before returning to Aotearoa in 2023. Represented by Boyd-Dunlop Gallery, NZ, and Lethbridge Gallery, AU.

FLOX website image v2

FLOX

FLOX is one of Aotearoa’s most recognisable artistic voices. A self-made creative whose signature stencil style and vibrant, nature-inspired works have evolved from the street to the studio, and now into a globally-minded lifestyle brand. With roots in urban art and a deep reverence for the land, FLOX bridges the worlds of fine art, public art and functional design. Her murals, workshops and collections, spanning limited edition prints, private commissions, personal stationery, and luxury accessories, are a celebration of bold colour, cultural connection, and artistic integrity. FLOX represents a modern, elevated take on Aotearoa creativity crafted with care, grounded in story, and designed to stand proudly on the world stage.

Jasmine Keir and Art 800x800

Jasmine Kier

Jasmine Kier communicates the places she has been from her physical and metaphysical being into abstracts created with natural intuition travelling through a serendipitous journey. There is a force which guides her from the core of existence itself. She translates from the subconscious and delivers using techniques gifted from the rhythms of the greater heartbeat. Jasmine is driven toward the connection of man and the natural environments in which we interact with an ancient and modern existence.

Jorj Englebrecht and Art 800x800

Jorg Engelbrecht

In his paintings Jorg Engelbrecht reconstructs aspects of natural forms and textures. His intention is to bring the viewer into a world that they are familiar and comfortable with. Jorg would like the viewer to connect subconsciously, to get drawn into discovering the paintings’ aspects and to be enriched by the formal beauty of the abstract form. Jorg is a full-time artist and has for over ten years sold many of his works through selected Galleries in Aotearoa, and to clients in Australia, Europe and the USA. He often creates large commission paintings for private customers and corporations.
