If you have a New Zealand mobile phone number, you can choose to receive your investment account balance(s) at the end of each month by text, for free. This service is available for the MAS KiwiSaver Scheme, MAS Retirement Savings Scheme and MAS Investment Funds (MAS Schemes).
How to register
Text the following keywords to 3118:
To ensure your privacy the texts you receive will not include any personal details.
When will I receive my monthly text?
You will usually receive a text on the fifth business day of each month (around 11 a.m.). This will give your account balance as of the last business day of the previous month.
How current is the balance reported?
The text will include the date it is valid for. This may differ from what is reported in the MAS Investor Portal or the Member section of the MAS Member Portal.
How many members can be associated with a mobile phone number?
A single mobile phone number can be associated with multiple members – if that mobile phone number matches our records for each member. A separate registration needs to occur for each member and a separate text will be sent for each registered member.

Can I change the mobile number I have registered for the service?
Yes. If you wish to change the mobile phone number that we send the text to, email us or call 0800 800 627. Changes will usually take effect within 24 hours.
Can I choose which MAS Scheme balance(s) I want to receive?
By registering to the text for balance service, you will receive the balance(s) for any MAS Scheme you are invested in with the Member Number you use to register.
Can I use the service for different types of MAS Scheme accounts I have with MAS?
Yes, the text for balance service is available to individual, joint and entity (such as trusts and companies) account types across all MAS Schemes.
For joint accounts, 2 individuals can be registered for this service and each individual will need to use their own individual MAS Member Number.
For entity accounts, only one mobile number can be registered on each account and the person using the service will need to use the entity Member Number (not their individual Member Number).
Members who register to use the service for individual accounts will receive multiple balances on a single text message if the member has more than one MAS Scheme and/or account type.
