Changes to your insurance premiums

We’re simplifying our insurance pricing to make premiums easier to understand and manage, giving you more confidence when making a claim.

From 1 July 2026, we'll be shifting to a clearer premium structure which means the No Claims Bonus (including Secured No Claims Bonus), Multi-Product Discount and Gold Shield Discounts will no longer be applied for all new policies and at renewal for existing policies.

Your premium will not increase because of this change and you'll receive a reminder a few weeks before your policy renewal when this change will kick in.

What this means for you

Cover and benefits aren’t affected by this change.

This change is only to how we calculate your premium, not what your policy covers. Everything you're protected against stays the same.

Your premium will not increase because of this.

Removing these discounts will not push your premium up. Your renewal amount reflects your individual policy details and market changes.

No-one should feel reluctant to make a claim because they’re worried about losing a discount. Removing the No Claims Bonus supports you if you need to claim.

Frequently asked questions

What is changing?

From 1 July 2026, the No Claims Bonus (including Secured No Claims Bonus), Multi-Product and Gold Shield Discount will no longer apply to new policies and will be removed at Members’ next renewal.

This means these discounts will no longer form part of how premiums are calculated.

Your cover will not change as a result of this update.

Will my premium increase because of this change?

No. Your premium will not increase because we're removing these discounts. In some cases, premiums may reduce under the updated pricing approach.

Insurance premiums are recalculated each year and are influenced by several factors such as your individual risk profile and policy details. Discounts have only ever been one part of the overall pricing calculation.

Why is MAS making this change?

We're simplifying our pricing approach by removing the No Claims Bonus, Multi-Product and Gold Shield Discounts.

There are several factors involved in the No Claims Bonus, Multi-Product and Gold Shield Discounts, and we have not always managed to apply them consistently. Our focus moving forward is to deliver value and competitive pricing tailored to individual Member needs.

This will help us:

  • Simplify how premiums are calculated.
  • Ensure you can make claims with confidence, your premium won't be affected by your claims history under this new current pricing.

This is part of MAS’s wider focus on pricing and product simplification.

Does this mean my insurance cover is changing?

No. Your cover and benefits are not affected by this change.

The change only affects how premiums are calculated, not what your policy covers.

What happens to my No Claims Bonus?

From 1 July the No Claims Bonus discounts will be removed, and the adjustment will be reflected in the base rates. You can continue to make claims confidently, your premium won't be affected by your claims history under this new current pricing.

Can I still have more than one policy with MAS?

Yes. Many Members choose to hold multiple policies with us, and that will not change.

However, premiums will no longer include a Multi-Product or Gold Shield Discount. Instead, each policy will receive the best price up front.

Having all of your insurance with us will mean you have one point of contact, and in the event of a claim there is one excess per event.

Why remove the Multi-Product and Gold Shield Discount?

We’ve simplified our pricing, so each policy stands on its own and reflects the cost of insuring that risk.

There are several factors involved in the No Claims Bonus, Multi-Product and Gold Shield Discounts, and we have not always managed to apply them consistently. Our focus moving forward is to deliver value and competitive pricing tailored to individual Member needs.

This means removing the No Claims Bonus, Multi-Product and Gold Shield Discounts, which added complexity and room for error. Your cover and service remain unchanged. This change will ensure our pricing is clear and sustainable for all Members.

When will this change take effect?

The change takes effect from 1 July 2026 for new policies and renewals. You will receive a reminder a few weeks before your policy renewal confirming the change.

How are insurance premiums calculated?

Insurance premiums are reviewed each year and may change based on factors such as:

  • Your individual needs
  • Policy details and insured assets
  • Changes in insurance costs across the market

Discounts have only ever been one component of the overall pricing calculation.

Are other insurers doing this?

Yes, many insurers across the market have already removed Multi-Product and no claims discounts as part of broader efforts to simplify pricing and improve transparency.

Are you increasing my price in another way instead?

No, premiums may change for normal annual renewal reasons but not because of this change.

Why make this change now?

This change is part of our wider transformation to modernise our systems and ensure premium pricing is simplified for Members.
