MAS is proud to share that our Preventative Health Programme was Highly Commended at the recent Financial Services Council of New Zealand (FSC) Conference, as part of their FSC Innovation of the Year Award.

This recognition celebrates the work of our Life team, who led the development of a programme that offers a breast and bowel cancer screening reimbursement for eligible MAS Members, who fall outside the age criteria for free public screening. MAS also passed this offer on to eligible employees.

“It was fantastic to attend the Financial Services Council Awards late last week, and a huge honour to be highly commended in the Innovation of the Year Award category for our Preventative Health Programme, said Rachael Macdonald, Chief Life Insurance Officer.

“After the success of last year’s trial, we expanded our funding for bowel and breast cancer screenings to eligible Members and importantly, our staff.

“This Preventative Health Programme encourages screening at a younger age by bridging the gap between clinical recommendations and public funding, increasing the likelihood of detecting cancer early when it’s most treatable.

“This initiative marks a fundamental shift in the insurance model from a traditionally reactive approach to a proactive one, by focusing on early detection and prevention to support better health outcomes for our Members and our staff.

“It also reflects our commitment to putting people first and innovating in ways that make a real difference in our Members’ lives.

The Highly Commended honour reinforces MAS’s leadership in Member wellbeing and our ongoing efforts to challenge the status quo in financial services through meaningful innovation.
