Annual Report

MAS Chair Brett Sutton took Members through the Annual Report and offered his thoughts on some of the highlights of FY2025, and what MAS will focus on in the year ahead. You can read more about this in the Chair’s report in the 2025 Annual Report

MAS’s new CEO

Brett introduced Jo McCauley, MAS’s new CEO. Jo joined MAS earlier in August, after serving as CEO for Southern Cross Travel Insurance, and brings deep experience in financial services and a strong understanding of the unique nature of mutual organisations. Jo set out her immediate priorities, which include engaging with and understanding more about Members and their needs, and continuing to champion MAS’s focus on service excellence.

MAS Foundation

The meeting then heard from Jenny Gill, Chair of MAS Foundation (the Foundation). Jenny reported on MAS Foundation's activities over the past financial year, which saw the Foundation commit over $1.9 million through a combination of community koha grants (under $25,000) and partnership grants (over $25,000, spanning 1 to 3 years). These grants are supporting kaupapa that nurture whānau wellbeing and uplift community solutions and leadership.

Jenny also spoke about a new strategic direction for the Foundation that will see deeper investment in the early years of life within a whānau context. The Foundation has developed Te Tikitiki a Taranga – a kaupapa that centres on the first 2,000 days of a child’s life, from conception to age 5.
