MAS Scholarship terms and conditions

By applying for the MAS Here for Good Scholarship you agree to the following terms and conditions in addition to the Entry Criteria:

  1. The MAS Here for Good Scholarships, comprising one individual and one group scholarship, (the Scholarships) are offered by Medical Assurance Society New Zealand Limited (MAS).
  2. MAS reserves the right to decide not to award one or both of the Scholarships in any year, to make determinations on eligibility and compliance with these rules in its sole discretion, and to alter these terms and conditions and the eligibility criteria.
  3. To be considered by MAS for the award of a Scholarship entrants who meet the entry criteria (each an Applicant) must submit an essay which responds to the question posed by MAS, otherwise complies with the entry criteria, and is received after the opening date and before the closing date outlined on the MAS Scholarships webpage (each an Application Essay).
  4. The recipient of each Scholarship will be one individual Applicant (individual scholarship) and/or one group Applicant (group scholarship) whose Application Essay is judged by MAS in its sole discretion as the recipient.  
  5. Applicants grant to MAS a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, worldwide licence to use in any way (in whole or part and including, without limitation, to publish) the Applicant’s Application Essay for any purpose.
  6. Applicants warrant to MAS that Application Essays submitted to MAS are the Applicant's own work and do not infringe the rights of any third party.
  7. MAS will judge the Application Essays and MAS' decision as to the winners will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
  8. The Scholarship recipients will be announced as per the timings outlined on the MAS Scholarship landing page on the mas.co.nz website.
  9. Each Scholarship recipient will be notified either by email or phone. If a recipient does not respond to MAS within a reasonable time then MAS reserves the right to revoke the award of the Scholarship to that recipient without further notice.
  10. Each individual Here for Good Scholarship recipient will receive a payment of $1,000 by direct credit into a nominated bank account.
  11. Each group Here for Good Scholarship recipient will receive a payment of $4,000 by direct credit into a nominated bank account.
  12. Guidelines and requirements regarding income from prizes can be found online at ird.govt.nz. MAS is not responsible for any tax deductibles, declarations or payments on behalf of the Applicant.   
  13. Employees of MAS and its related companies (and their immediate families) are not eligible to enter the Scholarship.
  14. By entering the Scholarship, each Applicant agrees that MAS may use their name and photograph for publicity purposes without further compensation or consent as well as receiving marketing materials from MAS.
