MAS was founded by a group of doctors in 1921 and is now the insurance and investments company for New Zealand’s professionals.
As you’d expect from a company founded by doctors, we’re all about supporting our communities, and that begins with our Members.
We make things easier for our Members and provide them with outstanding customer service. That’s why we’re one of the most trusted insurance providers in New Zealand, and have been voted the Consumer NZ People’s Choice for four insurance categories – house, contents, car, and life – four years in a row (2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019).

Here for Good Days
Everyone at MAS is given a Here for Good Day. This is an extra day of paid leave that can be used to volunteer for a charity or community organisation of your choice.
Sustainability is a major part of our vision and purpose. It informs everything from the way we communicate with our Members to the Responsible Investment Strategy we use to manage our Members’ KiwiSaver funds.
We have established a philanthropic organisation – the MAS Foundation – that funds initiatives to improve the health and wellbeing of New Zealanders, particularly those from traditionally underserved communities.
Diversity and Inclusion
We can only be here for the good of our Members and their communities if we reflect the diversity of New Zealand. We have a range of initiatives to promote diversity and inclusion, including a Wāhine at MAS group and a commitment to te reo Māori.
